South African golf courses - Paarl/ Boschenmeer Golf Course
(These golf courses are some of the many golf courses in South Africa at which you will be entitled to play at affilliated rates when you join THE GOLF CLUB)
Situated 60 km outside Cape Town, Paarl is a wealthy city that has a great
number of Victorian and Cape Dutch style buildings. It is host to KWV,
the controlling body and co-operative of the Cape Wine industry.
Situated in the Cape Winelands; Paarl is one of the most popular courses
in the cape because it is almost completely protected from the wind. It
is a relatively flat course with ancient trees lining the fairways. Unusually
this course is a par 74 with no less than six par 5's.
One of the distinguishing features of the par five 16th hole is a huge
acorn tree right in the middle of the fairway. The par three 6th hole
is probably the most scenic. Standing on the tee one has a beautiful view
of the vineyards and Berg River to the left and in the background is the
majestic mountain ranges of the escarpment.
