Golfing Terminology starting with "R"
Rap: To hit a putt with a short, firm stroke.
Recover: To successfully hit a shot from a poor location.
Release: the point in the downswing at which the wrists uncock.
A late release (creating "lag") is one of the keys to a powerful
swing.
Rough: the grass that borders the fairway, usually taller
and coarser than the fairway.
Rating: The difficulty of a course or the skill level
of a player.
Read: Examining the green to determine the amount of
break it will exert on your ball.
Reverse Weight: Shift A swing flaw in which the weight
moves forward on the backswing instead of to the back leg.
Rhythm: The speed and technique of your swing. Each particular
swing type normally has its own rhythm.
Round Robin: A tournament in which all players compete
against one another.
Run: How far a ball travels along the ground.
